Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Well, it certainly does. But nobody tells you about the void that turns your world around.
The once happy lone traveler finds everything wrong about the journey.
Even watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S hurts for that’s what you enjoyed together.
The once eagerly awaited Fridays don’t excite you anymore.
Going to your favorite restaurant makes you feel guilty.
Everything seems wrong even if right.
Flashbacks seem real not mwakish.
So even if absence makes the heart grow fonder the pangs you feel hurt.
You feel like a tree uprooted as life slips by at an unforgiving pace.

The pain of separation. Well done. 🙂
Love the way you tied in the uprooted tree to the idea of absence. Beautiful, Naba <3
Very true, Naba. Absence is painful indeed… Nicely expressed.
Separation is painful indeed. Hopefully it's a temporary one and not permanent. Love how you interpreted the prompt.
That was a thoughtful take on the prompt. Yes, sometimes we feel acutely the void, the absence, but in that absence itself the presence is constant felt.
Nicely done, Naba!
I think instead of fonder, it makes it more painful. I don;t think I would be happy staying away from my loved one. Beautifully expressed.
Wow! A beautiful take on the prompt! Indeed the absence of near and dear ones give heartache but also grows the bond stronger!
During Absence, often time, we feel the depth and strength of the thing which is absent…Nicely done.
A wonderful interpretation. The last line was the icing.
Lovely lines. Yes the void that can never be filled. I almost felt the pain and anguish reading the lines, could relate well to those feelings, very deep.
Beautifully expressed Nabanita! Lovely take on the prompt.
You've captured the emptiness and hopelessness that comes with a tough breakup beautifully. Time heals all wounds…eventually you can watch Friends and go to that restaurant without even thinking of that person. It just takes time.
A very fine take on the prompt, depicted through a beautiful poem.
I liked this philosophical take . You have written it in a very beautiful manner . Good job Naba 🙂
Missing someone can change the meaning of things, which otherwise were sweeter.
I could relate !!! 🙁
agree with you totally .. 🙁
Ah! So absence makes the heart fonder of the people who are absent but not fonder of life itself?

Absence hurts and kills. Very hard.
I do feel that some of these proverbs when they were made what were people thinking .. I seriously miss the people who are not near and I am sure its not making my heart fonder of them .. rather it is making my life a misery .. and if its a misery how can the heart get FOND and happy
Bikram
Loved the way you interpreted this picture prompt, Nabanita! Well done!
The pain of separation and longing is rightly compared to an uprooted tree.
I have been in that situation and every word u wrote was lived!!
I can relate to that…..:-(
Wow.. Now that was something! Yes, the pain of separation 🙁
Absence is painful..it really creates that sense of nothingness which sometimes becomes unbearable..
Thanks Ali 🙂
