A Time to Kill by John Grisham is this week’s book recommendation.
Genre: Legal Thriller
Why should you pick it up?
I love legal dramas. I think there is a certain charm, not to mention, wit to them which makes them all the more exciting. And when it comes to legal thrillers in terms of books, does anybody do it better than John Grisham? Nah, I think not.
Now this book is brilliant (needless to say!). I don’t think anyone who loves and reads Grisham would have missed this. But still, I had to include this in my list of book recommendations because honestly, the book is brilliant. The plot, the dialogues, the storytelling and the twists, it’s bloody perfect.
You must, really must read it. And then perhaps you could go on to watch the movie adaptation which has Matthew McConaughey in it. But I must warn you, the book definitely is much much better than the adaptation (as always!).
So, go on, read the book and thank me later!
Blurb
Before The Firm and The Pelican Brief made him a superstar, John Grisham wrote this riveting story of retribution and justice — at last, it’s available in a Doubleday hardcover edition. In this searing courtroom drama, best-selling author John Grisham probes the savage depths of racial violence…as he delivers a compelling tale of uncertain justice in a small southern town…Clanton, Mississippi.
The life of a ten-year-old girl is shattered by two drunken and remorseless young men. The mostly white town reacts with shock and horror at the inhuman crime. Until her black father acquires an assault rifle and takes matters into his hands.
For ten days, as burning crosses and the crack of sniper fire spread through the streets of Clanton, the nation sits spellbound as young defense attorney Jake Brigance struggles to save his client’s life…and then his own.

I love thrillers, but somehow legal thrillers are not my cup of tea. Thats one of the reasons why I always have avoided John Grisham. Have read a couple of two somehow they just didnt appeal to me. Looks Like i must give it another shot????

I love legal thrillers! There’s something unputdownable about them. Thanks for recommending this one, will surely look for it the next time.
I have never read a thriller including legal thriller. I consider it way outside my comfort range. Maybe I don’t like to stress my mind even while reading 😉 I like your recommendations about books based on Second World War but have not been able to pick any of them as yet. I ask myself why do I not take out time to read books meant for grown ups or is it I can’t grow up in books until D grows up.

I watched a move a long time ago, loved it. Perhaps it’s time to pick up a book 😀
Legal thrillers and John Grisham favourite reads.Loved the review
Oh this one is one of my favourites, Naba. Grisham manages to keep you enthralled despite the legal details, doesn’t he?
I have more than 5 Grisham books on my shelf and I haven’t read even one yet! Can you believe that?
I know he writes legal dramas and they are one of my favorite genres and I wonder why I still haven’t picked them up. I guess I have this one too. Else, I’ll add this to the shelf and start my Grisham journey with this one.
Thank you for the recommendation, Naba.
