The Innocent (Will Robie #1) by David Baldacci is this week’s book recommendation.
Genre: Thriller
Why should you pick it up?
I just realised that I have recommended 21 books without once mentioning David Baldacci. Now how is that even acceptable?
David Baldacci is one of my favourite authors. I just love his books. Even though more often than not I’m able to guess the plot, well, most of it, (blame too much reading on it), they are my guilty pleasure. I love the larger than life, strong yet broken heroes and heroines he brings alive on the pages of his books. And I love the pace with which he takes a reader on a roller coaster ride in each of his books. The back stories too of his characters are solid.
This one here is one such book from him. The central character is Will Robbie who is again one of my favourite heroes in fiction. The blurb will tell you more. But all I can say is that it is like one of those action-packed suspense movies that turn out to be an enjoyable watch.
One thing is for sure, you won’t be bored reading this.
Now, leaving you with the blurb to know more about the premise of the book. Happy Reading.

America has enemies – ruthless people that the police, the FBI, even the military can’t stop. That’s when the U.S. government calls on Will Robie, a stone cold hitman who never questions orders and always nails his target. But Will Robie may have just made the first – and last – mistake of his career…
It begins with a hit gone wrong. Robie is dispatched to eliminate a target unusually close to home in Washington, D.C. But something about this mission doesn’t seem right to Robie, and he does the unthinkable. He refuses to kill. Now, Robie becomes a target himself and must escape from his own people.
Fleeing the scene, Robie crosses paths with a wayward teenage girl, a fourteen-year-old runaway from a foster home. But she isn’t an ordinary runaway — her parents were murdered, and her own life is in danger. Against all of his professional habits, Robie rescues her and finds he can’t walk away. He needs to help her.
Even worse, the more Robie learns about the girl, the more he’s convinced she is at the centre of a vast cover-up, one that may explain her parents’ deaths and stretch to unimaginable levels of power.
Now, Robie may have to step out of the shadows in order to save this girl’s life… and perhaps his own.

Would you believe if I said that I have never read a Baldacci book till date? I have two of his books on my shelf and never picked them up. I think I’ll read the ones I have first and then go with this one. Saving Faith and The Collectors are the ones I have.
Thank you for another wonderful recommendation, Naba

Just like Soumya I haven’t read a single book by this author. After your recommendation I have made a note of this author and the book. Thanks Naba.
I have 2-3 David Baldacci’s books in my book cupboard, but havent picked them up as yet. Your post has piqued my interest and am hoping to read The Innocent as well as the ones that I have.
Sounds interesting. I don’t think I’ve read any of his books but have definitely seen them around.
