About the book from it’s cover:

Love is an analogue of madness

Destiny unfolds different chapters with halts

Love has a cycle –

and it’s incomplete without madness

Heart reside in the middle of ribs

nor on the right neither on the left

Its grips on to the balance of all senses

Where Love acts as momentarily shadow-

Which will always follow you

-but will never be a part of you

Love to take the touch of immortal dark-

or blue – being in love

As love defines only you…

Love is a composite mixture

of single soul occupying two bodies

A bold force ,invincible and cant be measured in moments and time – it happens –only the word turn out will be exact

– no why’s no but ….. It moves on and makes it way accordingly through rugged roads, even where devils dare to take

steps …………

“It takes its move by an open window of an attic chamber …. Brings relief shower and aroma of fresh life…chapter

continues…. Affray, dead air, henceforth far out ….. Its natural ….but sometimes it decides to take climatic end in the

attic chamber in the name of love …. By love…for love”……………….

Now for my View:

Love and romance that’s what Man and Madness is about. It is a lyrical essay about love, about the intricacies of this emotion that we all experience at one point of time or the other. I love the way the author has woven poetry in her book. That I also think is the best thing about this book. Prose interwoven with poetry enunciating love and its flavors, that’s Man and Madness for you. Having said that I’m not sure how much it will be liked by the readers. I personally liked it but the purists might not.

This book is a commentary on the various facets of love. And it is written brilliantly by the author.

Parna has a good hold of the language and she illustrated that very well in the book. Her writing is like gentle strokes of the brush, comforting to read.

The author is a Bengali hence you will find some phrases written in the language. Of course, you don’t have to scout for translator for the English meaning is also there. I personally do not like mixing languages but then that’s just me. And it definitely doesn’t hinder the flow of the book.

If you are looking for a light read then go for Man and Madness. It will not disappoint you for the author does know what she wants to communicate through her work and does that with clarity. So read it and let me know if you liked it.
