#MicroblogMondays 11: Grateful Mondays

How was your weekend? Good? Awesome?
Staying away from office does wonders to the soul, doesn’t it?
Well, I certainly had a great time. I met up with two of my favorite people for which I need to thank my blog. If it wasn’t for it my horizon wouldn’t have coalesced with theirs. And that would have been such a loss for I would have missed out on so much. So it’s safe to say my Saturday was well spent and in great company too. And then Sunday was spent lazing around the house, reading specifically. But the icing on the cake was that I didn’t have to cook even a single meal in the weekend. My sister took care of that. Now, those who have been reading me for a while would immediately realize how happy that would have made me.
But then the inevitable happened; the weekend ended! Well, we can’t win them all, can we? So I dragged my very reluctant self to office and began waiting for Friday once again.
I must confess I dread Mondays, absolutely abhor them. And more so now. So why not brighten up the mood with a gratitude post? It has anyways been a long time since I’ve done one. Though I’m not particularly grateful for Mondays, I can surely be grateful for the other things in life which remain in-spite of Mondays. Sounds good?
So here are a few things that made me happy last week, turned the frown upside down so to speak.
  • Reading some great books. I think the feeling that comes with reading a good book is something that can’t be explained only experienced.
  • Watching movies with sis after a long, long time. It was as if we were transported back to our childhood. With her even the boring ones seem so funny!
  • Not having to cook. I think half of my stress vanishes in thin air when I get to spend even a day without entering the kitchen. And thankfully I’ve been able to avoid it completely for some time now.
  • Meeting up with friends, talking and laughing. It was so refreshing and stimulating.
  • The fact that 2 weeks have passed since S flew to Germany and now we have only 5 more weeks to somehow squeeze by makes me happy. Of-course, more than half of his stay still remains but it’ll be easier if I look on the bright side, right? I’m happy as with each sunset the day of his return draws closer.
So that was my list. What about you? What made you smile last week? Come, share & read.

Be Happy. Be Grateful!

  1. Lovely list Naba. What have you been reading? And not cooking is such a blessing, I agree wholeheartedly. Sisters are just so good to have around.

  2. Reading books , meeting friends… sounds you spent an amazing time. Don't worry time will soon fly and S will be back.

  3. The first two weeks of any time waiting are always the longest. Hope the rest of this time apart flies by and that you can fill it with fun things. Thanks for reminding me that I am thankful for my two wonderful sisters – must remember to get some old films out next time we meet up!

  4. I loved your Monday gratitude list. It reminds if of the simple joys of reconnecting with friends and family. I was thankful to go see Interstellar with my husband and daughter. We had fun discussing the film. Shared experiences are more joyful!

  5. Awww So nice to read this lovely happy post, Naba. My Saturday also brightened up after meeting you and I. I really must invite you over for lunch some day. Let me know when you are free next. That way you will escape cooking one meal and maybe I can feed you something nice too. πŸ™‚

  6. Sounds like you had a magical weekend. I am so happy for you! Unfortunately Monday comes for all of us. Blessings for a great week! β™₯

  7. The weekend was nice, but I really love Mondays now. I have good things to read on Mondays. (My rss reader is full!) And I moved book club to Mondays, too. Now Tuesdays on the other hand…

  8. I had a great weekend, and am still enjoying it, as Monday is my usual day off and tomorrow (Tuesday) is our Remembrance Day holiday. Great idea to do a gratitude post on a not-favourite day!

  9. I don't mind Mondays, but perhaps that's because I'm self-employed, and get to plan my week.

My weekend was very quiet after a stressful few weeks away with an ill relative. Having time to read and sleep in. That made me smile!

  10. You really love your sister, don't you? I'm almost jealous of the deep bond you share with her.
    Stay blessed, always.

  11. I hate Mondays too !! My parents are here, so I spent my time with them. ANd in reading and watching TV. Simple pleasures !

  12. Sounds like a wonderful weekend Nabanita: reading, movies, no cooking…how fun! And I think it's a great idea to post a gratitude list on a Monday, especially if you hate them. πŸ˜‰ It seems like you can keep busy to while away your time until S comes home, don't you think? Think books! πŸ˜‰ <3

  13. I've been reading 'Before I go to Sleep', 'Apple Tree yard', 'Dissolution' and more…And yes sisters and no cooking are blessings indeed!

  14. So true Jen , the first few weeks are the hardest..I'm trying to fill up my time with stuff I like to do…And go meet your sisters , there will be no one to love you like sisters do πŸ™‚

  15. Oh that is wonderful Rachna…Would love to come over πŸ™‚ Maybe next time we can have a sleep over at my place and then we all can cook together !

  16. I wish I can escape cooking too. Thankfully KG takes over on weekends, but there are long weekdays when the kitchen needs me. Sigh!

  17. Glad you had a great weekend. Can I make you jealous and tell you that my life is like one long weekend? πŸ˜› But then I went through the working phase and totally understand that Monday feeling! I love how you turned it into an opportunity for being grateful. The best way to deal with the blues.
I'm scanning your Library thing quietly! πŸ˜‰

  18. Oh, hugs. I know the feeling when your better half is away. I know whom you met and I am envious. Don't hate me but I kinda love Monday. I think this gratitude post is a good idea. I should do it for myself.

  19. Oh you made me jealous Corinne…So jealous πŸ˜› πŸ˜‰ My Library Thing is not updated Corinne but you can scan it πŸ™‚

  20. I don't mind Mondays – the week is full of possibilities. I often have very busy weekends and Mondays are always quieter – I usually don't plan anything on Monday mornings. What makes me smile is when my son farts on my husband – we both find it supremely funny!

  21. Last week…A cousin with whom I had misunderstandings… Traveled all the way to my place too meet me and resolve the issue… I was floored!
