Oh inspiration, where art thou?

Oh inspiration, where art thou?
These days I find it so hard to concentrate on writing something, anything! The ideas hover around but somehow are always beyond my reach. If you are a blogger or writer, you know what I’m talking about. Some call it writer’s block but I prefer to call it laziness. Yes, why else would I procrastinate writing, when it’s something that makes each day worthwhile?

There were times when even vegetables inspired me to write posts but looks like I’ve become creativity resistant these days. But I won’t give up so easily. Not at all! Hence, today I have pledged to hit the publish button, come what may. But what that would be is the question really. Any suggestions?

Should I write about how I’m horrible at yoga? Yes, that might do the trick.

So, just recently I was dragged by my friends to yoga sessions that take place at office. Now, you should know this about me, I’m not an exercise or physical activity loving person. I’m more of a couch potato who prefers reading and writing instead of exertion in any form. Even in school I always tried my best to skip sports and physical training classes. To add to that, I have absolutely no sense of direction. So you can very well imagine what happened when I attended the yoga session. I ended up doing the exact opposite of what the class was doing. If they went right, I went left. If they used their hands, I my legs. Well, in a nutshell, I made a complete fool of myself. So, as you can see yoga and I are not compatible at all. In fact, that was probably the last yoga session for me, at least for a very long time to come!

What else should I bore you with? Office, friends, my cook or my maid? Let’s see!

Her Royal Highness, my Maid, has been on leave since last Monday. She was supposed to be back in four days but looks like she had decided to extend her holiday without intimation. It makes me want to not take her back but then this relationship is one I can’t get out of! Ahh, what the need for comfort does to you! And His Majesty, My Cook, what do I say about him? He makes me wish I actually loved cooking as much as I love eating. If only that were true, I would have bid him farewell too.

Well, I think that should do for today. Why don’t you tell me how much you enjoyed (hated) reading this?

Until next time, until inspiration strikes!

Ciao!

  1. Good start Naba. I posted yesterday after over a moth so I know exactly what you are going through. My drafts folder is over flowing yet I cannot get to the publish button.

  2. Sometimes some creative babbling does the trick. I for one, don't think I am completely blocked. I just have been choosing to other things lately. I have managed to write a story a week, so yay me! YAY you for writing at all. Sometimes all it takes is just a little push to get started and figuring out what works with you.

  3. Arre baba, no one takes on to Yoga in one session. Try it again slow and steady and give your body time to adjust. With my experience I can tell you, that not only will you feel more energy, stability, flexibility but mental calm too. Just keep at it a little longer.

  4. Inspirations are hard to come by although this post is apt considering International Yoga Day is just around the corner

  5. I am with you on the incompatibility with Yoga. I prefer being a couch potato in spite of my conscience nudging me constantly about health.

  6. You are too funny Naba! πŸ˜‰ Yet there have been a number of regular bloggers, myself included who fell a bit "off the wagon" after April's A to Z challenge so not sure what was going on there, but you weren't the only one affected! πŸ˜‰ And it's funny to read about you and yoga as it reminds me of exercise classes where I get confused to. I think this happens easily when they stand facing you. It is much easier if they face the same direction you are! πŸ™‚ And by the way, you were one of a number of people I have missed, so I'm glad to see you back! <3 (And I wish you would be as inspired as I am by so many things...I have so many draft blog posts!)

  7. It doesn't help that there we are never short of distractions – Twitter, Facebook. WhatsApp constantly pinging for our attention :/

  8. I get into this mode quite often and sometimes I feel terrible about it. And about the ever extending leaves of maids and cooks, ask me, my cook took a leave for 1 month! And she didn't even return after one and a half! So you know you are in a better place!

  9. Aww you are doing just fine. And see what a fine and funny post you churned out πŸ™‚ Tell yourself once a week, you will write. That's what I do on the parenting blog. Keeps me sane and regular. For now. The other one is my rambling blog and the one I publish when the fancy strikes. As for inspiration, pick a quote from those books you are reading and just write πŸ™‚

  10. I enjoyed this post! And I can totally relate with hating exercise. I used to feign stomach ache in school, just so they'd send me to the dispensary during the games period! Besides anyway, as they say "Exercise is bunk. If you're healthy, you don't need it. If you're sick, you shouldn't do it." Right? πŸ˜€ πŸ˜‰

  11. hehehehe I love reading about these little anecdotes. You should write them more often πŸ˜› I wish there was a yoga session at my office.

  12. I had a lot to say last week but didn't blog even when I had the time so I understand the block you are facing. We do need a break every now and then so it's ok.
Yoga takes practice and persistence — don't give up πŸ˜‰
Ah a maid and a cook…at least you have them to be able to complain about them. My maid and cook are on holidays at the moment — they are one person — me. πŸ˜› So not looking forward to regular chores on going back home.

  13. Everyone seems to be into yoga nowadays. When our maid is on leave for a day, it seems like a hurricane went through the house. 4 days is unimaginable.

  14. I was in a similar phase since I did the April A2Z challenge. But, when in doubt, we can do a book review. Or, better still, focus elsewhere. And inspiration will hit soon.

  15. Am sure all writers / bloggers (me included) go through such a phase. But such short posts always do the trick to get the creative juices going :).
