They tortured her when she first entered their abode. Cloaked by a false sense of superiority they hurt her feelings and made her toil hard.
As days passed her eyes lost the sparkle they always had. She looked a fading shadow of her old self.
Disappointed, she wanted a way out. But they laughed, ridiculed her fallacy.
“You are stuck here” they said.
“Are they right?” she thought.
A year passed and then two.
One day she walked in with a letter in her hand. They read it surprised. Their mocking smiles vanished.
She had the last laugh. She quit!
My fellow Bloggers Richa Singh, Shilpa Garg, Sheethal and Suzy are taking part in UBC. Drop in and cheer them too if you please :).Trust me nothing motivates us bloggers more than a comment from our readers!
Good for her. It is wise to get out of situations which harm you. Lovely post.
And it's a good thing she did too, Nice take on the prompt.
Better to walk out where you aren't respected!
Good one! 🙂
Thanks Sulekkha..It is indeed wise to get out of situations
Indeed it is…Thanks Suzy for visiting 🙂
Indeed Aayesha 🙂
Thanks for visiting !
Glad she had the courage to walk out. Head held high.
Nabanita, I have been reading your posts, off and on. Sometimes I am too lazy to comment and other times just too overwhelmed by the time spent in the virtual world. I remember your post on Malala – Mia Woman. It stayed with me. I have read some of your short fiction too. It was so good to see you on my blog! Thank you.
wow!!.. its better to walk out then to stay in a place where one is miserable.. lovely take on the prompt.. 🙂
Awesome. Initially, I thought you were talking about a daughter in law. But the end was a surprise. 🙂 Great.
Catharsis. 😀 I had a moment of emotional upheaval reading this one 😛
Richa
Ohh thank you for the kind words Alka … I love your posts and the way you write… the last one was just amazing!

And I was dreaming of resigning while writing this 😀
It's kind of bitter-sweet Naba 🙂
Glad for her! In life everything balances out, finally!
Good one for the prompt, Nabanita 🙂

Nice post based on a prompt. Initially I thought it was a new bride and it was going to end in some way that she had a last laugh 🙂

She quit, but actually one day she will win… My question is why she? It may happen with anyone….
Looked like a girl resigning from work…later I thought- May be this is about a girl stuck in a torturous house after marriage and the paper in her hand was a divorce paper..I swayed between these two thoughts till I discovered the correct option in the comments 🙂 Nice attempt to prompt 🙂
You are really done at your work place aren't you? 🙂 Nice one!
Amazing!!
Loved it. short crisp and just the right amount of sarcastic.
Such a positive & hopeful story, Naba. Glad she started a new life rather than resorting to end her life, like many women do…
Glad that she showed the courage.. a positive post ..:-)
A resignation letter ! a final answer to those who are continuously bullying women in workplace – those people will be guilty after all. Few yet powerful words…Good luck!

This was a good one actually….the end will make the readers reread the story in a new light
Thank you so much 🙂
