Does being human come effortlessly for a Human-Being in today’s times? Compassion, love and an innate desire to do something worthwhile for mankind are thoughts that come to our mind when we overhear words like ‘Humanity’ or ‘Humanness’. But the fact of the matter is these humane and benevolent sentiments have become increasingly rare and limited in society of the present day. Today ‘being human’ is nothing more than merely wearing a T-shirt bearing those very words.
A quick glace through newspapers would readily communicate the level to which society and mankind have stooped. Hence magnanimity and charity are ideas which don’t even feature in the ‘To-Practice’ list of an individual.
‘Being Human’ the NGO run by Salman Khan actually works towards the education and healthcare of the underprivileged. They want everyone around to Join Hands, Change Lives but regrettably it is only the procurement of ‘being-human’ t-shirts that people have joined hands in and nothing beyond that. Yes, thanks to the popularity of Salman Khan, the words ‘Being’ and ‘Human’ have surely found resonance in public but as an empty superficial façade in the form of clothing. It is strange but these words have lost their genuine significance and instead have become akin to motifs on outfits. Unfortunate but true!
