Book Recommendation 5 #Reads

Dear Zari: The Secret Lives of the Women of Afghanistan by Zarghuna Kargar is this week’s book recommendation.

Genre: Biography, Autobiography

Why should you pick it up?

By now you must be aware how I’m fascinated by the stories of women, real women from around the world and across time periods. Now this book is full of heart-wrenching tales of women from Afghanistan. These are stories told by women who have lived in conditions which you wouldn’t wish upon anyone. They are inspiring, heartbreaking, uplifting and sometimes so painful that it makes you question if there is any justice in this world at all. It will make your everyday problems seem insignificant and you won’t feel good about it either. Yes, because you’ll realise how unfair life is to so many women around the world. It will tell you how strong women really are and how much they endure when they really shouldn’t have to.

All I can say is you must read this book. You really must.

  1. I have been fascinated by writers from the Middle East and have been reading a lot of these stories; this one sounds equally riveting and I think I will pick it up for a read, later in the year. Thanks for the share Naba

  2. I have not read any books based on Afghanistan. Not even Khalid Hoseini’s. Yet. I so much want to. Nice recommendation. Thanks. Added to TBR.

  3. I will read this book. I was so moved after I read The thousand splendid suns. Women of Afganisthan have gone through so much political and social upheavel which have affected their lives tremendously. This seems to be an interesting book too,.

  4. I love reading these tales… Although it takes a lot of time to get over their stories. The struggle to thrive every single day is both inspiring and heart breaking. I will look it up on Amazon.

  5. This goes straight to my TBR. Thank you. I have been loving your recommendations so far.

  6. I haven’t read many books set in Afghanistan, so I am definitely going to keep an eye out for this one. Thanks for sharing, Naba.

  7. Marked this one to my TBR. I have been slacking on my reading goals all through these first 3 months of the 2018. I want to start with a book that will help me get on to reading 🙂
    I love your recommendations.
