S is for Safe

Lying in his arms at night Suzy always felt safe.

This was the favorite time of the day for her.

Throughout the day she would wait eagerly for him to come home. He was after all her first love, the man in her life.

She would brag about him to her friends, show off the gifts he showered on her and spend hours on end with him on holidays.

Even the rest of her family seemed less important with him in the picture.

So much was her dependency on him that days when he would be away made her restless.

Suzy knew there would never be a man like him.

And as she watched him fall asleep next to her, she planted a kiss on his cheeks and whispered ‘I love you Dad!’

  1. Ah, my first love was my mom and she was a father figure in my life. I guess i get my independent streak from her 🙂

  2. Amazing lines Nabanita! I don't know I had a feeling that the man is her Dad after reading first 3 lines and I was happy to find the same as true.
