#SkywatchFriday – Under The Evening Sky

Sometimes all you need to clear your head are a few quiet moments under the sky.

The last weekend wasn’t so great with M falling ill once again. With S’s new job, my own job and M, S and I haven’t been getting that much of time together like we used to. When one is busy the other is always taking care of M. The result being that we both are busy throughout the day. Of course, we try to make time as much as possible but exhaustion is a constant companion these days.

All we want is to grab that pillow and put our heads down to rob as much sleep as we can each day. The desire to rest always trumps the desire to talk, not that we are that much of talkers, the both of us. But somewhere there is a shortage of time. We have always needed our space but now we need it more, I think. Being on a schedule throughout the day does that to you and then we always have to be alert too with M trying to walk. So, yes, busy and exhausted are probably the two words for us nowadays.

Thankfully, though, we have a few trips coming up and we hope to spend some quality time together without being bogged down with the daily chores. So, yay!

Making time is as important as saying you care.

Just the other day, the three of us went to the terrace of our apartment building and spent some quality time together. It was short but sweet. M was busy waving and calling the birds while S and I planned which restaurant we should go to next. Yes, we both are big foodies. Planning for our next dinner or lunch date is our idea of fun. It was good. The enormity of the sky probably made our skirmish with time and the other day to day worries seem insignificant. Peaceful. Yes, that is how I felt, we felt. I think I should listen to S and do this more often.

So, that brings me to some shots of the sky that I took that day. Honestly, I thought the sky looked pristine and inviting. It was comforting standing there, the sky almost sweeping weariness off my mind.

I never knew skywatch could be so soothing. Turns out it is. I think it is just another way of being mindfulย and that does the trick.

I looked up at the sky that day and somehow instantly felt good. Maybe it was the power of nature, maybe it was magic or just the act of looking up and seeing the omnipresent welcoming sky which did the trick. Well, whatever it was, I’m glad it worked.

I leave you with the shots and a quote. Have a blessed weekend.

  1. Welcome to Skywatch, Nabanita! I’m so glad to see you here today ๐Ÿ™‚ The captures are lovely. I think once you get into doing this, you’re always trying to find a shot every time you are out and about or amidst nature. I can totally understand how busy and exhausting can feel like when they come together. Been there myself and I know this is when you must take time out to spend with each other as a family. I hope you have a fantastic break at Goa…relax and take all your stresses out, dump them all in the sea and come back cheerful and light and easy ๐Ÿ™‚ I know it will be a while until your little one is able to give you restful nights but, the magic of seeing them take their first strides is also so much fun, won’t you agree? Take it easy, and I look forward to more skyshots from your trip. Happy weekend, Nabanita!

  2. Lovely shots. I love when the Sun is about to set, the sky lights up in various colors. It’s like a joy in going and then coming back again the next day.
I am sure with S’s job things need to get back together and they will. Just a matter of time when this will be normal. Isn’t it?
I love watching the sky and the moon. The enormity grounds me all the time. Lovely reflective post, Naba!

  3. Participating in Skywatch has changed my photography habits. I used to not pay that much attention to the sky. Now, I do, and not just at sundown or sunrise. Lovely photos.

  4. Beautiful Snaps. I love to look at sky and moon at night standing alone in the balcony. I get such time only when kids are asleep. Take Care.

  5. Those are lovely captures. True, once you become mindful, you actually see/feel things deeply and realize how you missed expereincing so much before!!

  6. I hear you. Ever since I joined the workforce again – life has been crazy busy for me too, and there is always so much to do, that a small breather seems like a luxury. Hopefully this is just a season of life that will pass soon. For you and for me.

  7. Lovely pictures. There is magic in sky. And, several times, the sky, the moon and the sun along with glittering stars are the protagonists in my poems. There is a lot that nature speaks to us and you have captured all that beautifully.

    loved it, Nabanita.

  8. Lovely pictures, Nabanita. The sky, the moon and the glittering stars very often play the protagonists in my poems. They have so much to reflect. I am glad that i could sense such reflection in the pictures that you have posted here. SUperb.

  9. Lovely post, Naba! I so agree looking up at the sky and soaking in all that enormity, all that wideness can really do wonders with our minds. It sort of makes us open up to new widenesses within. Also good to know that you all as a family have a few trips coming up. I saw that you are already on one such trip ๐Ÿ™‚ Great! Have a great time, all of you!
